FearlessJacob Reckless returns once again to the Mirrorworld--filled with profound characters, extraordinary creatures, and epic life-or-death treasure hunts that could only come from the mind of the master storyteller of our generation, Cornelia Funke.
Jacob Reckless has only a few months left to live. He's tried everything to shake the Fairy curse that traded his life for his brother's--legends such as the All-Healing Apple, the Well of Eternal Youth, the blood of a northern Djinn. And yet hope after hope is extinguished. After months of fruitless searching, Jacob journeys through his father's mirror one final time to deliver the bad news to Fox.
But there they hear of one last possibility--an item so legendary that not even Mirrorworlders believe it exists: a crossbow that can kill thousands, or heal one, when shot through the heart. But a Goyl treasure hunter is also searching for the prized crossbow. Jacob must find it first--and somehow convince Fox to do whatever it takes to save him.

Ok so for one thing when I grabbed this from Night Owl Reviews I didn't realize that it was a book 2. Oops.  I think I need to pay better attention.  The good thing was that I have everything from this author so I already had book 1 laying around YAY! So I quickly read Reckless and then picked up Fearless and I was so not disappointed.  This book is about a boy named Jacob who found a mirror in his missing father's study that allows him to travel to another world that if full of magic.  In the first book Reckless, Jacob's brother followed him and was almost turned into a Goyl which is creature made of stone like a Gargoyle. Fearless is a fast paced book that I finished in about a day or so. It is filled with fairy tale legends and Jacob is on the look for one that not even the inhabitants of Mirrorworld believe that it is real.  I loved the romance in the book didn't take priority over the story itself since Jacob is on borrowed time. The front of the book says that this is a companion book to Reckless but I don't think I would have liked it as much if I hadn't read book 1.  There is a massive cliff hanger at the end of Fearless that will make you drool until book 3 comes out.  So I cant wait for more.  These books I would recommend these books for ages 9 and up.

I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. Again I didn't realize that this was a book 2 but I think I did pretty well even though I haven't read Code of Silence. So this one is about the same cast and crew from Code of Silence.  They ride their bikes through the park one day and see a van with a backpack on the roof. Well Gordy tries to get the drivers attention and is kidnapped by the man in the van.  Cooper calls 911 and isn't sure he remembered the right license plate.  I kinda give him credit of getting the plate number to begin with.  This book was great.  It was face paced as something is always happening. It has adventure, fear, and these kids are just so strong to find their friend when it seems that the police wont be able to.  Its an edge of your seat thrill ride that will keep you coming back for more.

Suspense fiction for 8-13-year-old middle school readers.
