About The Author
I’m Marianne Richmond — an author, artist and inspirationalist.
Seeker, questioner, observer, and teacher, too.
Wife to Jim.  Mom to Cole, Adam, Julia and Will.  And mostly-smitten owner of Otis, the supposed Sheltie/Maltese who looks like a  Border Collie.
I’m semi-extroverted and often-introverted, depending on the phase of the moon and who’s at the party.
I love to read, laugh, eat ice cream after the kids go to bed, re-arrange furniture at midnight and sleep in the sun.
I believe we are all divinely gifted in purposeful ways and that both our successes AND our setbacks keep us “on course.”
My ability is to write and speak for the “unique everybody,” offering words and emotion that resonate deeply within the heart,  inspire people to connect with themselves and others, and encourage them to appreciate their own potential.
I believe many of us are stuck or scared about how to say exactly what’s in our heart for fear of being critiqued, disliked, or disconnected.
I also believe it’s the very ability to truthfully reveal ourselves — and to value the journey of others — that leads to a richer, more meaningful life.

My two year old loves the book so much she slept with it lolWell I was going to be adding my copy of this book to the giveaway.  But unfortunately my 2 year old had other plans.  From the time that it came in the mail to even now.  She had commandeered the book and will not let it out of her sight.  This one as well as one other book also published by sourcebooks called Isabella she has been known to be found sleeping with them in her bed.
So as for a review.  I had to wait until she fell asleep.  This one was so cute.  For kids it really reminds them as well as us moms that in the end we really do just about anything for them.  This book shows a few issues and troubles that go with being a mom.  Its really a fun book to share with the family! And kids of all ages and of course us moms will love to read it again and again to our kids.

Wonder Light: Unicorns of the Mist (Unicorns of the Mist, #1)Deep in the heart of a mist-shrouded island, an impossible secret is about to be discovered.

Twig is used to feeling unwanted. Sent to live on a pony ranch for "troubled" girls on a misty, haunted island, Twig is about to discover the impossible — someone who needs her.
Jolted awake from a bad dream, Twig follows the desperate whinny of a terrified horse out to the stables. There in the straw is a bleating little scrap of moonbeam. A silver-white filly with cloven hooves and a tiny, spiraling horn.

A baby unicorn.

Now Twig knows what secret is hiding in the island's mist: the last free unicorn herd. And a mysterious boy named Ben who insists that this impossible creature is now Twig's to care for. That she needs Twig's love and protection. Because there's something out there in the deep, dense shadows that's hunting for them...

Chapter 1
Keely turned off the ignition and pointed at the haunted island. "Well, Twig," she said, "there it is."
Mist swirled around the island in circles of warning. Spirals of rain and wind and secrets seemed to say, If you come, Twig, we will break you on our rocks like the waves. No one had lived on Lonehorn Island in recent memory, until the Murleys-and now a bunch of unwanted girls. Soon Twig would join them.
The wind whooshed from the island to shore and beat at the car windows with new fistfuls of rain. We are the Island. Leave us alone, Twig, or we will snap you.
Well, Keely would certainly get her way then. Keely said Twig's name as if she wished Twig would snap in two. Twig had liked her name, back when Daddy called her Twig as though he were certain one day she'd sprout leaves of pure gold. Now Daddy said her name like she was already broken. Now Daddy wasn't there, and Twig wouldn't be around when he came home.
A small, bright blue boat pulled up to the dock in front of the parking lot. A man in worn jeans and a dark green raincoat climbed out and tossed a line onto the dock. He paused to wave before tying down, and Keely smiled stiffly and waved back.
Then Keely looked at Twig, her resolve visibly softening. "Maybe I should come with you. The Murleys said it would be all right."
Twig shook her head firmly.
"Okay." The edge returned to Keely's voice. "Let's go meet Mr. Murley. Looks like he's got one of the other girls with him. Maybe you two can get to know each other on the way. Make friends." You'd better, Twig, her tone said. You'll be there for a long, long time.
Twig glared at the boat, at the small face pressed up against the window of the cabin. She got out and gave her car door a good slam. The rain lightened into fine, misty drops.
Twig ought to have been glad to get out of the car. The three-hour drive north along the Washington coast to Cedar Harbor had been cold and dark and quiet. But thinking about Lonehorn Island made her want to jump right back in the car and beg her stepmother to take her home.
The little island in the distance was one of many scattered off the rocky coast beyond Cedar Harbor, but it was the only haunted one.
I was so happy to get this book in the mail.  And let me tell you it came fast so a big thanks to Sourcebooks for the review copy!
Ok so this book was reviewed by both myself and my 8 year old daughter.
The Mom's Review: 5 Stars
You guys know that I love debut books!  And this one is no less awesome! It is about a twelve year old girl with a really rough past.  She ends up being sent to a pony ranch (which at that age I would have loved that) This is a wonderful coming of age book for the middle school crowed. I loved the name Twig and that she finds that she is brave, talented, and strong.  I really cant wait for the next one!
This book will appeal to the girls from ages 8 to 13.  My 8 year old didn't have any issues with understanding the story or any of the words.
The Kids Review: 5 Stars
(errors have been fixed)
I took this book to school and finished it in two days.  I loved Twig and the Unicorns.  This book is so cute and I want to get it in a finished copy since we don't keep ARCs.  I hope to learn more about Twig and her story and cant wait for the next one!

Can You Be FEARLESS?

| Friday, April 26, 2013
FearlessJacob Reckless returns once again to the Mirrorworld--filled with profound characters, extraordinary creatures, and epic life-or-death treasure hunts that could only come from the mind of the master storyteller of our generation, Cornelia Funke.
Jacob Reckless has only a few months left to live. He's tried everything to shake the Fairy curse that traded his life for his brother's--legends such as the All-Healing Apple, the Well of Eternal Youth, the blood of a northern Djinn. And yet hope after hope is extinguished. After months of fruitless searching, Jacob journeys through his father's mirror one final time to deliver the bad news to Fox.
But there they hear of one last possibility--an item so legendary that not even Mirrorworlders believe it exists: a crossbow that can kill thousands, or heal one, when shot through the heart. But a Goyl treasure hunter is also searching for the prized crossbow. Jacob must find it first--and somehow convince Fox to do whatever it takes to save him.

About this author

Cornelia Caroline Funke is a multiple award-winning German author of children's and YA fiction. She is best known for her Inkheart trilogy. The Inkheart books have gained a variety of attention, and critics have praised Funke as the "German J. K. Rowling". Her books are very popular in her native country, and many have now been translated into English. Her work fits mainly into the fantasy and adventure genres. She currently lives in Los Angeles, California.

Ok so for one thing when I grabbed this from Night Owl Reviews I didn't realize that it was a book 2. Oops.  I think I need to pay better attention.  The good thing was that I have everything from this author so I already had book 1 laying around YAY! So I quickly read Reckless and then picked up Fearless and I was so not disappointed.  This book is about a boy named Jacob who found a mirror in his missing father's study that allows him to travel to another world that if full of magic.  In the first book Reckless, Jacob's brother followed him and was almost turned into a Goyl which is creature made of stone like a Gargoyle. Fearless is a fast paced book that I finished in about a day or so. It is filled with fairy tale legends and Jacob is on the look for one that not even the inhabitants of Mirrorworld believe that it is real.  I loved the romance in the book didn't take priority over the story itself since Jacob is on borrowed time. The front of the book says that this is a companion book to Reckless but I don't think I would have liked it as much if I hadn't read book 1.  There is a massive cliff hanger at the end of Fearless that will make you drool until book 3 comes out.  So I cant wait for more.  These books I would recommend these books for ages 9 and up.
