This one was great!  I had just read Shadowland and hated it so this one was so much better.  The author did her homework!  This one will so not disappoint you! Ok so Meg is a girl whose family is hiding for reasons that Meg doesnt know. And like me she was uprooted a lot to move to new places.  I know how she felt the longest ive ever lived in once place was 5 years. So with an alcoholic mother and a father that is so closed off Meg really just wants to find out why they have to hide.  So enter Ethan and that is when Meg really ends up getting into more than she bargained for.

LEILA HOWLAND loves to read, explore L.A., and engage in funny and meaningful conversations with her friends and family, especially her brother who calls from Washington D.C. whenever he’s waiting for the bus. A lot gets discussed in those phone calls, but they tend to end abruptly when the bus shows up. She can really cut the rug, but wishes she could sing without people covering their ears. A graduate of Georgetown University, Leila spent five years acting in New York where she was a company member of the award-winning Flea Theater in Tribeca. It was a lot of fun and she often talks about “getting back into it.” The closest she has come was a stint as an extra on The Young and the Restless in 2010. The ending to this one made me blue.  It just felt very empty and incomplete.  I did enjoy the book. But I am a firm believer that the ending makes the book and with this one it just fell short.  I am still rating the book with three big stars as it is a very good story.  So you should deff check it out.

About The Author

I was born in Tucson, Arizona. Shortly after this my mother moved us to Minnesota, where I have remained ever since. There has never been a time when I was not writing. As a child I would come home from school, pull out my plastic bin full of markers and paper, and arrange everything around me in a circle. I would then fold some paper in half, staple the side three times, and proceed to fill the white spaces with words and pictures.

The first novel I ever finished was so thick it could have served as a doorstop. It was about Victorian vampires. It was 2008, and I was sixteen years old. Since I have always been a huge fan of Libba Bray's, I decided I wanted to follow in her footsteps in every way. So I did research on how to get a book published. I discovered what a literary agent was. And I promptly wrote a query to send to Barry Goldblatt, Libba's agent.

Understandably, that awkward, snail-mail query received no reply. As the days turned into weeks I reconsidered my approach. I concluded that maybe this manuscript wasn't the one I wanted to show the world. So I took another year and wrote a completely new novel, a contemporary-suspense kind of story. It was 2009, I was seventeen and on my own.

By this time I had realized that agents accepted e-mail queries, and Barry Goldblatt wasn't the only one in the world, so I sent off a new query to a list of them. Beth was among that list. After a long, enlightening journey, I again shelved a manuscript. Time passed. I graduated high school in 2010, and immediately afterwards ran off to California and wrote another novel. Then I came back to my beloved Minnesota and got responsible, enrolling in college and finding a job.

And in the beginning of 2011, I queried Beth again. I was eighteen years old, with a story that was new and strange and exciting. I had written it during a time when I was living with people I didn't know that well, in a place that was a little frightening, during a time when absolutely nothing was certain. Beth quickly got back to me. The subject of her e-mail read, RE: Query: SOME QUIET PLACE.

The rest, as they say, is history.

This is one of those books where you are going to love it or hate it.  The ending was a little disappointing. I dont really want to try and explain all of the issues I had with this book as I am an anti spoiler site.  So the biggest thing I will say is to just get the book from the library etc. Read it and make your own choice.
